Shepherds Staff - Fujara Flute

Originally cut from the trunk of small tree or large straight limb and measuring up to six feet long, adapted now here from copper pipe at a comfortable and manageable size, the fujara or Slovakian shepherds overtone base flute is a rare instrumentalists dream and a sound healers potent medicine. Originally a shepherds close companion and tool for herding and calming the sheep and passing the time, now being utilized also as therapy for people and animals with serious trauma with its deep overtones and low smooth rounded notes which soothe and caress the wounded spirit. Having only three finger holes it boasts a full range of rich and crisp notes and overtones mostly in the major scale which span over seven octaves and are achieved by simply changing the pressure of your breath along with some slight finger work. By bouncing the bottom of the pipe over your knee you may also achieve additional notes. When capped with the rubber stop on the bottom it may also be used as a fully functional walking staff which stands at about 4 feet tall, weighing just under 3 pounds and tuned to Key of D. This gem of an Instrument is also very practical and breaks down into two sections for easier packing and cleaning.
